Educational Awards:
What we OFFER

ARTS AID provides financial assistance and support to exceptionally talented Isle of Man students in the arts to help them in their studies and seeks to make a difference in situations where Isle of Man Government funding is insufficient, or unavailable, or students are seeking additional financial support.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am for having been selected to receive this ARTS AID award and I thank you so much for giving me the means to make the most of my studies to help me become the professional I’m working so hard to become.”
Lewis Pycroft - Rose Bruford College
BA in Virtual Theatre & Digital Experiences
AM I ELIGIBLE?
  • Are you or have you been, ordinarily resident in the Isle of Man, or have you received a significant portion of your education on the Island?
  • Do you consider yourself to be exceptionally talented in your respective field?
  • Are you planning a career in the arts?

If you can answer “yes” to all three of these questions you are eligible to apply to ARTS AID.

The Application Process

The application process opens in January. Those interested in applying for an award should request by e-mail an application pack consisting of an application form and application guidelines. Applications may be for assistance with educational costs including fees, accommodation, reasonable travel costs and other related expenses. Applications must be submitted by e-mail. Each applicant is required to provide recent references from a minimum of three suitable referees. ARTS AID awards are intended to augment rather than replace other sources of funding.

Applications may be submitted as soon as a candidate has identified and applied to an educational institution for their chosen course of study. It is not necessary for the applicant to have been accepted by their educational institution as any scholarship offered is wholly conditional on acceptance.

All applications received are in the first instance reviewed by the Directors on which basis they will short list those candidates they wish to invite to interview. The interviews take place typically in late June or early July in person in the Isle of Man. The panel interview with the Directors is a vital step in the process. In exceptional cases the Directors may be prepared to interview candidates virtually.

Typically scholarships are tenable for a maximum of one year. Scholarship recipients pursuing multi-year courses may re-apply and may be considered by the Directors for a renewal of their scholarship based on their performance.

The application process is a competitive one and all scholarship offers are made at the sole discretion of the Directors.

Other assistance:

In 2021 ARTS AID introduced a mentoring programme. All award recipients are eligible to participate in this programme.

“I’m so grateful to ARTS AID for supporting me at LAMDA. I graduated from the MFA Acting course in 2021 and their funding massively helped me. Through ARTS AID mentoring programme, I’ve now been able to connect with another Manx student at LAMDA and it’s been great to share our experiences and support each other as we’re starting our careers.”
